There are parts of the cemetery that seem to cause groups of people to want to hurriedly vacate the premises. There is also a large tree where several tour attendees on different nights have reported seeing what looked like a child peeking around that tree at us.

Katherine’s Cottage—Fire in the Walls

This is one of the oldest cottages in the Historic Mill Village. Originally built for millworkers’ families in the early 1840s, it was a duplex like most of the homes were at that time, having a fireplace in the middle of the building. Although it was quite small, it usually housed an alarmingly large number of people. Its paranormal activity is quite interesting and many recall this location as having one of the tour’s most memorable stories. And it’s a story that developed over many months.

The building had apparently been abandoned for many years, requiring much renovation. A woman by the name of Vickie purchased the old cottage in hopes of opening up her new business there. Heavy renovations began, which included new hardwood flooring, electrical wiring and sheetrock. One morning, the workers approached the home to start another work day when they saw that a pipe to which they were preparing to install a sink was shooting out water and had apparently been doing so for hours and hours. This unfortunate incident ruined all that had been done to the cottage at that point. Unwavering, Vickie began the renovations again, and again reached the point at which the hardwood floors were in and the wiring and the sheetrock were repaired

Once again, the workers approached the cottage to begin work one morning, and again they saw tremendous water damage. This time the culprit was a new hot water heater. It had been installed days earlier, and they saw that it was literally split in half. They could not understand how a brand new hot water heater could have split in half that way; it was unheard of.
